drawing jennifer

tonights model was one of the very best models ive ever drawn. she was so inventive with her poses. i wish my gestures were better or i'd show you. she was very thin and held crazy poses, but not dumb poses, good drawing poses. she must do pilates or yoga or something. when i see models like this i think, god, i will never compare to her when i pose for a figure drawing class some day (its on my list).

here are the 20, 30 and 60 minute poses..

i got at least some of the stool in this time..

this was an incredibly difficult angle, i should have moved, but i am lazy.

painting in progress

i'm starting a series of paintings.... the inspiration for these paintings was the david hockney portrait exhibit i saw at the MFA in boston before i left. he did countless portraits of people that came into his home. my intention is to do a bunch of them all the same size. and show them somewhere, maybe in the next open figure drawing group show.

shuttlecock

i have been saving these beer labels for a really long time, i hadn't really thought of how i could use them, but i wanted to use them. i decided i would make picket fences out of them for this piece, but they looked stupid when i got them all cut out. so i made them into the kind of fence that just looks like spikes. :) when i got the bears on the page i intended to put them behind the fences i made, but liek i said i hated the fences. so i quickly scanned my brain for an activity that i could engage the bears in. first i thought of volleyball, then i thought that was boring. badminton is much more exciting.

jk, leave me a comment when you receive this..

EDIT:: alright, i received confirmation that this mailart made it to its final destination...

10 thirty pm nov. 10.2006

i wanted to do another suspended in tape mail. when i cut out the hole, i fit a couple pieces in and i think it looked wicked cute. i also loved the stamp that was naturally on the cardboard.

jlg, leave me a comment when you receive this!

EDIT:: i've received word that this made it to its final destination.. however.. it was supposedly delivered in an enevelope. wooot!

drawing suzette...

i love birds. this was brought in by the model. it was a halloween theme tonight.

i think this is my favorite one of the night. it was a 10 minute pose.

ugh. this one was a 30 minute jobber. not my favorite.

i had two completely random women come up to me at the end of class and tell me how much they liked this piece. it was hard to do, this woman would not sit still. grrrr.

next week is a show, no class. i will be able to watch LOST in real time.

teeny tiny claw hand!

i don't think this is too bad for my first time out in about 7 years. i plan to go every wednesday if possible..

the only downside is i will consistantly miss LOST.. :( good thing for dvr.

fun with cookie cutters

this piece came about pretty quickly. i got the idea and then as i looked around everything was right there. i thoroughly enjoyed myself doing this too, until i was applying the gloss at the end. the marker ran, i should have hair sprayed it. next time, live and learn.

i don't want to give anything away, so i'll post the pics in a few days when the piece reaches its home.

flight 93 history channel

i sent out my 4th piece of mailart today. it should arrive on friday to its destination... i started this one back when i was living in MA. it should be obvious what i was going for when you see it. i wanted to cut out a face similar to what i did with one of my college sketchbooks, but the front and back didn't line up properly. i finished it with found objects from my old apt. comment when you receive it...

i hope that its obvious that it was meant to be a smiley face. :)

two hundred twenty dollars and fifty cents

the third mail art is on its way to HK's house. so, when it gets there i'll put up the pic...

alright, she received it..

i was going through some of my shoe boxes full of stuff decided what to move, and what to shred, and i got to my shoebox full of movie tickets, baseball game ticket stubs, play tickets, airline flight coupons, concerts...basically i have every ticket i've ever recieved for everything..

so i thought i would put them to good use. :) then i totaled up all the money i spent on just the tickets that are on that particular postcard. i spent $220.50 total. shiiiit.

i was able to see beautiful mind for free because i saw it the weekend of the oscars at the ghetto theater in somerville where i was working at the time. i saw that one by myself. :) its funny what memories were brought up when i looked at those ticket stubs...

dinner april 22nd, 2006

this is my first piece of mail art. it went to my friend JI, she was one of my college roommates. more to come when she receives it..

this was a collaboration of found materials from my dinner on april 22nd. i had steamed spinach dumplings, white rice and sesame tofu. i also cut up all the chinese food menus in the house that night for their characters. (sorry LK)
